Now Open! Charley's place Family Day Care
What is Family Day Care?
Family Day Care is care provided by people who are specially selected and supervised by Charley's Place and conducted in their home. Group sizes are smaller than in centre-based care and your child has a unique opportunity to bond with a single consistant carer.
Family Day Care operating hours are more flexible than centre-based care and can include weekends and overnight care, occasional care and before & after school care.

Who are the Coordination Unit?

The coordination unit is made up of a coordinator and an administration officer. The coordination unit performs the day to day functions and operations of the scheme. They take care of:

* Carer recruitment
* Training
* Monitoring the care provided by regularly visiting the carer
* Manages child enrolment and placement
* Provides information and feedback to families
* Supports the care of children
* Provides the necessary administration facilities to process Childcare Benefit on behalf of families

Who are the Carers?

Carers are self employed individuals who are registered with the scheme to provide childcare in their own homes. All Carers must have:

* A current first aid certificate
* A working with children clearance for all adults in the home
* Public liability insurance
* A safe and clean environment
* Space for indoor and outdoor play

Family day care carers take responsibility for the care, nurturing, education and wellbeing of babies and children under 12 years old.

Everyday, their energy, commitment, relationship skills and experience in caring for children will ensure that quality care is maintained to provide, positive outcomes, for every child, in every home, every day.

How do I become a Family Day Carer?
Family Day Care can be a wonderful way to rejoin the workforce after having your own children and working for yourself from home offers unique benefits. Carers are fully supported by Charley's Place and have the opportunity to achieve formal qualifications whilst working at home.
