Family Day Care

See Liz's Family Day Care Blog and learn more about her and the activities that her children do.

Liz Klease: Hi, my name is Liz Klease and I have been a Family Day Care Provider in Chinchilla since 1992. I have a Certificate III in Children's Services and I am looking forward to starting my Diploma very soon!

I have completed extra training and many workshops since finishing my Certificate III. Some of these include: Child Protection Workshop, Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds Workshop, Food Safety Standards Training and a SIDS and KIDS Workshop. I also have a Senior First Aid Certificate and a Blue Card for Child Related Employment, as do members of my family and regular visitors to my home.

My Family consists of my partner Phill; Nick and Alex our sons. Phill has just had a job change from driving trucks and being away from home quite abit to now working at the local council for the Water Board. The children I currently have in care of a day are excited that he gets to come home for lunch. They always have so much to tell and show him! Our Eldest son Nick is in Grade 9 at High School and would one day like to Race Cars, just like his Hero Craig Lowndes. Alex is in Grade 5 at the State School and wants to be a Mechanic. Who knows maybe one day they could work together as a team, they don't fight too much now, so you never know!

I am lucky enough to have family members living locally. Phillip's Mum and Dad are Grandma Patsy and Grandad Charlie and my mum is Grandma Pat. There are also Aunts and Uncles and Nieces and Nephews. The children will get to know them all as an extended part of the family.

Our lives are very busy with extra activities that the boys are involved in. I also have a Saturday morning job at the Jewellers that I thoroughly enjoy and as you can imagine is totally different to looking after children. As a family we like to spend time together on weekends catching up with family and friends. A new interest of ours is camping and we will hopefully be doing more of this in the future.

My family is very supportive of my role of Care Provider and my children enjoy spending time with their family day care friends.

I have a large backyard which is child friendly and includes a cubby house, sandpit, 2 swing sets and a huge round netted trampoline. I also have 2 bird aviaries, a small cage with budgies, 2 guinea pigs Chewy and Lewy, a cat called Pepper and a very loveable 17 year old dog called Tia.

My goal is to provide quality care for children.

I see my home as a childcare environment that provides an extension to family life. It is an environment that allows children to explore safely the development of a broad range of life skills.

The children will have the opportunity to play and learn in a creative, relaxed atmosphere. I provide a range of activities and experiences, which are designed to promote the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of each child. This is incorporated, in one way or another, into a daily routine, while still being flexible enough to be made changeable from day to day.

I have a commitment to the need for confidentiality regarding your child and your family.

I use positive behavior management techniques with children.

I ensure close supervision of children at all times.

I will provide you with information about your child's day and maintain accurate records as required.

If needed, I will provide nutritious food and drink while having regard to each child's health, allergies, cultural and religious requirements.

I am very fortunate to have Leo & Kaye Maguire's Pelican School Bus pick-up and drop-off right at my front door every day. If you need to arrange for your child to use this service while attending before or after school care, this can be arranged for a very reasonable cost.

Each family brings their unique perspective to my Day Care Home, which will enrich the environment. Your family is invited to share your culture, interests and hobbies with the children in my care.

Together, we will work in partnership to create the best outcomes for each of your individual children. Your child will be happy, safe and secure.

Our family welcomes you into our Family Day Care Home and we hope you enjoy being part of our family while your child is in care.
