Sandy Davies: My name is Sandy Davies and this is my third year as a Family Day Care provider. I have worked as a Teacher's Assistant at the Chinchilla Primary School for the last 16 years and now am following my passion of providing care to young children. I have lived in this district all of my life. I grew up on a farm at Brigalow, had my schooling in Chinchilla and lived on a property north of the town for 23 years. My husband is Bern and I have two sonse, Matt (25yrs) and Chris (23yrs). My family is very precious to me and we have an extremerly close relationship! We follow the old saying: "A family that plays together, stays together!"

My hobbies are numerous as I try and experience as many things in life that I can fit in! I love books, I read so many of them from all different genres. Wilbur Smith, Bryce Courtenay and James Patterson are my favourite authors. The Chinchilla Library is a great place to go and catch up on all the 'book' news. I watch a movie when I can, once again, all different types appeal to me, but crime and drama are my favourites. The boys have a very extensive collection of DVDs and watching them together is a great family pastime of ours.

Multiculturalism is a passion of mine, and we have travelled to Asia twice in the last two years to embrace the different cultures over there. I am a member of Amnesty International, Compassion Australia and International Volunteers Abroad. The world is a big place and is full of fascinating cultures and wildlife.

I enjoy all animals, especially Finches, Fox Terriers and Elephants. Our two foxies, Taz and Molly, are precious to us and of course we can't have pet elephants in Australia! I enjoy music and try to travel to concerts now and again. Once again, I enjoy a very interesting collection of Rock, Country, Jazz, Latin and African Groove.

I collect old photos and have a collection of family history documents. Anything old holds a fascination for me and I was pleased to recently be able to trae some relatives history that included getting copies of old navy documents from WWII

An interst in all sorts of sport is something that all four of us share. The one game that the whole family is passionate about is Rugby League. Bern and I have travelled with the boys all over the state in their pursuit of representative football. Each year we enjoy trips to Brisbane to watch NRL games, sometimes we even make it to Sydney for the Grand Finals.

Sixteen years in the schooling system has provided me with a great deal of satisfaction and insight from working with children. I am looking forward to many more happy years working with young children in my own home setting. Sandy Davies

My Philosophy
I believe that a strong family relationship is the backbone to a happy and secure child, and that my care is a very important extension of this relationship. I believe that children learn through play and benefit from a structured, yet flexible schedule.

I will do my best to ensure the safety, comfort, health and happiness of all children in my care at all times and will present them with the opportunity to learn at their own pace.

I will gain as much continuing education and training as possible and will strive to keep the lines of communication open between myself and the families whose children I provide care for.
